Operations as APIs

Your AI agents are only as capable as the systems they can access. An agent with no API access to your HR system can't answer benefits questions. The 80/20 Design Principle

Deterministic logic handles the routine. LLMs provide judgment where it matters. You get speed and reliability for the predictable, flexibility for the edge cases.

What Can Go Wrong

I've seen this fail when teams treat AI agent access like a quick integration project. They spin up an API key with admin access "just to get things working," embed it in a config file, and move on.
